Table tennis/Ping Pong, is a pursuit that we’ve got a lot of time for here at the Gentleman’s Coolective, and though it is one of our favourite sporting activities, there’s little denying that it could do with a tech overhaul. Well, enter Thomas Mayer and his awesome looking university project (we know, at university we spent most of our time, pursuing gentlemanly things) called the Table Tennis Trainer which superimposes a graphical overlay onto the table tennis table for some incredible visuals as you play.

However gents, before you get too excited about the prospect of laser filled game of table tennis, it’s important to realise that this is a concept design (we know, we know settle down!) that isn’t on the market but, we’re sure that it could soon be… one for Indiegogo.

Mayer’s objective with this incredible design project was to track the ping pong ball in realtime to create data visualisations for trainers and players to help improve their performance – and the end result is might impressive to say the least. Check out the video and feast your eyes on the Thomas Mayer Table Tennis Trainer.
